PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, On October 12, 1492 Christopher Columbus, a son of Genoa, Italy,
discovered the Americas, and today, millions of Americans trace at least
a ptlrt of their ancestry to Italy, and many of the sons and daughters of
Italy have served the Nation and Collier County steadfastly over the
years in many different fields,' and,
WHEREAS, the Naples Italian American Club is now known as the Naples Italian
American Club Foundation, and will be celebrating Columbus Days annual
anniversary on October J 0, J J, J 2 and J 3, 20J 0,' and,
WHEREAS, the Naples Italian American Club Foundation members have over the ptlst
40+ years devoted many hours of volunteering time and effort to assist
many worthy causes within the community,' and,
WHEREAS, the Naples Italian American Club Foundation has over the years supported
particular childrens causes by donating and contributing to various
countywide projects such as: Special Olympics, Womens Abuse Center
Liberty Youth Ranch, MakI a Wish Foundation, High School Scholarships,
Naples Equestrian Challenge, and Hospice of Naples,' and,
WHEREAS, Collier County Commissioners recognize the invaluable contributions of
Americans of Italian ancestry and with all Collier citizens support the
vital role that Italian-Americans have played in the development of our
nation and community.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Fk1rida, that the days of October J 0, J J, J 2 and J 3, 20J 0 be
designated as
ITALIAN AMERICAN CLUB FOUNDA TION DA YS
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 12'" Day of October, 2010.
