PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, from its beginnings in 1964, the Conservancy of Southwest
Florida has expanded its scope to cover the five counties in
Southwest Florida and in this time has dramatically influenced
the preservation of our natural resources and vulnerable wildlife
populations; and,
WHEREAS, June 29, 2010, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida breaks
ground on the Sharon and Dolph von Arx Wildlife Clinic, part of
the overall 'Saving Southwest Florida" campaign, designed to
increase visibility and raise awareness of the importance of
wildlife rehabilitation work conducted by the Conservancy; and,
WHEREAS, we celebrate the start of a project that will become an integral
and important part of protecting our native wildlife and by this
influence our quality of life in Southwest Florida; and,
WHEREAS, the expanded 4,500-square - foot clinic will include larger medical
facilities allowing the Conservancy of Southwest Florida to treat
up to 5, 000 injured, sick and orphaned animals each year, more
than double the current capacity; and,
WHEREAS, The Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic will be a significant
enhancement, enabling the Conservancy to treat animals in a less
stressful environment - and increase their chances to be released
into the wild; and,
WHEREAS, particular tribute should be given to the far -sided donors and
with particular mention to Sharon and Dolf von Arx who, by their
commitment and generosity have made this day possible.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida, that June 29, 2010 be designated as
Conservancy of Southwest Florida
