PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the North American Southeast Region of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter -day Saints, consisting of 14 different states and 96 different
areas, has declared April 24, 2010 as a day of service; and,
WHEREAS, their goal is to provide service to those in need, unite communities, build
bridges of friendship between people of o// faiths, faith -based
organizations, civic leaders, and community organizations; and
WHEREAS, the Fort Myers Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints
has planned an '7mmoka/ee Beautification Project" for Saturday, April 24,
2010; and,
WHEREAS, The Day of Service /s aimed at bringing relief to those struggling because
of the economic downturn including public organizations, such as schools,
and individual members of the community all of which have been impacted
by budget cuts; and,
WHEREAS, their goal is to prepare and point 15 homes in Immoka/ee, prepare 100
hygiene kits for the Abused Women's Shelter /n Immoka/ee, and to deliver
baskets of goodies to those families whose homes have been part of the
pointing program; and
WHEREAS, there will be an anticipated 300 people painting and preparing the homes,
approximately 50 people preparing and serving food, and many others
behind the scenes lending their assistance; and
WHEREAS, all citizens, businesses, public and private agencies, media, religious and
educational institutions are encouraged to participate by joining the
members of the LDS Church and others in volunteering their services to
the Immoka/ee Beautification Project.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that April 24, 2010 be designated as
A DAY OF SERVICE IN IMMOKALEE
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 13th Day of April, 2010.
