FIRST AMENDMENT
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
BETWEEN COLLIER COUNTY
AND THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA BOARD OF TRUSTEES ON BEHALF OF
COLLIER COUNTY EXTENSION(UF)
THIS AMENDMENT,made and entered into on this .3 qday of October,2018,by
and between UF, and Collier County,a political subdivision of the State of Florida, ("County"):
WHEREAS, the Parties entered into a Cooperative Agreement with a Memorandum of
Understanding dated February 23, 1999 to provide funding, support, and resources for the
Extension Service to provide research based educational programs and resources that meet
community needs in Collier County on Extension topics (including 4-11 Youth Development,
family nutrition,agriculture and horticulture) as set forth in Section 1004.37, Fla. Stat.; and
WHEREAS, the Parties agree to amend the Memorandum of Understanding to add
language defining the conversion of"Courtesy Agent or similar County positions"currently 100%
County funded to a jointly County and UF funded Extension Agent,to assist the County in filling
those positions upon resignation or retirement of current 100% County-funded Agent-type
employees or to create new Extension Agent positions; and
WHEREAS, the Parties agree that this Amendment benefits each party. Each party will
proportionately contribute to the salary and related payroll/benefit expenses of the Extension
Agent,including,but not limited to:retirement,federal withholding,vacation leave,sick leave and
worker's compensation. In addition,UF agrees to provide all benefits and privileges available to
UF faculty members under the UF benefit plans in accordance with UF and State of Florida rules
and policies, including, but not limited to, health insurance and advanced degree tuition
reimbursement. Collier County gains additional qualified Extension Agents to provide program
area expertise and faculty members receive continual training on related science and research
advances to better serve the community with the goal of relevance and ongoing program
improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises and covenants herein
contained, it is agreed by the Parties as follows:

Section V. Payment of Salaries for County Extension Faculty:
C. UF agrees to fund a minimum of ten percent (10%) for the salaries and associated benefit
expenses of faculty Extension Agents previously 100% County funded and known as "Courtesy
Agent or similar County position". Collier County will pay the balance of the salary and associated
benefit expenses.New positions will be considered on a case by case basis
1. The percentage will be negotiated and applied upon resignation or retirement of a
current "Courtesy Agent or similar County position" or when a new Extension Agent

position is established,prior to filling the vacant position. At no time will UF contribute
less than 10%of the total salary.
2. UF shall fund the employer-portion of all benefits not directly related to payroll
that are available to UF faculty under the UF benefit plans and in accordance with UF and
State of Florida rules and policies(examples include:health insurance and advanced degree
tuition reimbursement) for positions being converted, for future replacement faculty
Extension Agents,and new Extension Agent positions.
The remainder of the Memorandum of Understanding shall remain in full force and effect.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF,the parties hereto, have each,respectively,by an authorized
person or agent,have executed this Amendment on the date and year first written above.
