WHEREAS, the league of Women Voters was founded gO years ago to promote
education for new women voters in anticipation of the ratification of
the 151h amendment to the United States Constitution of August 26,

WHEREAS, the league of Women Voters, now comprised of both men and women,
is a nonpartisan palitical organization that encourages informed and
active participation in government, works to increase understanding of
major public policy issues, and influences public policy through
education and advocacy/ and.
WHEREAS, the league of Women Voters of Collier County was founded 35 years
ago, March 27. 1975 with 54 founding members and currently has
140 members/ and.
WHEREAS, the league of Women Voters of Collier County has a long record of
promoting voter education and re9istration, printing a ''Guide to
Elected Officials': providing impartial information on candidates and
amendments, and holding dynamic candidate debates,. and.
WHEREAS, the league of Women Voters of Collier County regularly present
informative programs on local government processes and issues, school
policies, conservation, the judicial system, and social and health
issues/ and.
WHEREAS, the league of Women Voters of Collier County is celebrating 35 years
of service to the voters and citizens of Collier County.
NOW THEREFORE. be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida, that March 27. 2010 be designated as
lEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF CO/../..IER COUNTY DAY
in Collier County, Florida, and that all citizens are urged to vote and
be active on issues that affect life in our community, our state, and
our nation.
