Backup Documents 10/25/2011 Item # 4CPROCLAMATION 40 WHEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number ?OM-56 established the Waste Reduction Awards Program (the WRAP award),- and, WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and multi- family residences for enhanced and inno votive recycling programs, and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize the Iberia Bank of Marco Island for contributing to the greater good of Collier County by promoting the 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle- Phil OsOPhY, thereby he /ping to Prolong the usable fife of the Collier County Landfill; and WHEREAS, some aspects of its recycling program include: • purchasing preferences for recycled, mmonufactured, and environmentally sensitive products • recycling plastics, cons, card iwr /, and office popsy, whkh is shredded to prevent identity theft. • coordinating paper slave Wfiff events twice o year for the Marco Iskmd community; an ongoing effort that over the last far years resulted in recycling over 11 tons of shredded paper. • providing recycl/ng edueotion to approximately 250 to 300 attendees during each paper shredding event. WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a framed certificate, a trophy, and space on the col /i %VOv net /Fcycles website to showcase its waste reduction prwetiees, green initiatives, and recycling programs; and, WHEREAS, the Solid Waste Management Department congratulates Keith Dan eron, Vice President - Manager, and all the staff of Iberia Bank of Marco Is /and for their outstanding efforts to promote waste reduction, reuse, rweyre /bra, and promoting environmental awwww" Iberia Bank sets a positive example for other banking institutions. Its paper shreddhtg events and community outreach will have a significant effect on sustoinl g the usable life of the Collier County Landfill and protecting the environment.
