WHEREAS, Collier County is very fortunate to hove commercial companies who not only enjoy the success that a goat
business brings, but also have a social conscience and give back generously to the community, Home Depot is one
of these companies; and,
WHEREAS, Eagle Lakes Community Park, located on U.S. 41 East between Naples Manor and Lely Resort, is recognized as
one of the busiest parks in Collier County; and,
WHEREAS, Eagle Lakes Community Park has a water splash area, climbing wall and a sand box that gives pleasure to many
children of all ages, unfortunately these areas were not complimented by facilities to allow parents to watch
comfortably their children as they enjoy the fun of the play areas, until Home Depot stepped up and offered to
provide additional facilities to the park, and,
WHEREAS, Home Depot staff saw the need, and applied to their home office for a $12,O00grant to buy materials. Once
their grant was approved, they worked with Collier County staff to obtain the necessary permitting, and then
reached out to other Home Depot stores in sunrounding counties for volunteers; and
WHEREAS, in response to their request employees from the Collier County stores, from the Bonita Springs store, Fort
Myers stores, Cape Coral stores, and even from Punta Gorda shams offered to help. The store manager from
the Pine Ridge Road Home Depot, Daniel Zubrigg, an exuberant, energetic, tireless organizer - never losing the
smile on his face or his cheerful disposition. Together with staff from the County Parks and Recreation
Department, they designed a list of improvements to the park for the benefit of the families who use the park;
and,
WHEREAS, when this project was finished, there were picnic tables, covered struchres over benches, and seating areas
with planters. Additionally, Home Depot staff committed to coming back again next month to work on adding
improvements to the East Naples Community Park, and,
WHEREAS, for their efforts and dedication to our wonderful community, we would like to thank the Home Depot; a
community conscious company with a wonderful committed staff, Parks and Recreation management and staff,
Naples Community Center Director Kathy Topoleski and staff of helpers who have worked so difigently to bring
this dream to a reality with the Home Depot heroes.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Soaid of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that June 28, 2011 be
designated as
HOME DEPOT, AND THE PROJECT VOLUNTEERS
APPRECIATION DAY
For their selfless contribution to the Eagle Lakes Community Park.
