PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, in 1950, Dean R. Lind graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ohio
State University, which was followed by military service in the Korean War. He
then joined Sun Oil Company (Sunoco) and served numerous marketing management
positions, in particular Director of External Affairs; and,
WHEREAS, in 1988, Mr. Lind retired and moved to Naples, Florida, becoming active in St.
John's Episcopal Church and its Outreach Missions Committee. This eventually
resulted in the creation of St. Monica's Episcopal Church where he served on the
Church Vestry and was Senior Warden for four years, and
WHEREAS, from 1994 Mr. Lind served a further seven years on St. John's Vestry and
Chaired the Missions and Outreach Committee; and
WHEREAS, in 1995 Mr. Lind joined the St. Matthew's House Board of Directors and chaired
the Development Committee. In 1998 he conceived St. Matthew's House's largest
fundraiser, the annual 661fathon, now in its 14'" year In its unique format, the
6olfathon has raised over $4 million dollars since its inception, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lind was elected St. Matthew's House Board of Directors President in 2005
and held that position until 2009, when he became Vice President of the Board.
He is also President of the St. Matthew's House Board of Trustees; and,
WHEREAS, during Mr. Lind's service as Board Chairman, he coordinated and led the effort to
merge St. Matthew's House with Immokalee Friendship House, which was
accomplished in October, 2008.
NOW THEREFORE, for his selfless work and dedication to the work of St. Matthews House, be
it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida,
that Ane 28, 2011 be designated as
DEAN R. LIND DAY
