Backup Documents 05/10/2011 Item # 4F PROCLAMA TION 4F WHEREAS, Annie Mae McKinney was born in 1910 in Monticello, a town near the Florida-Georgia border; and, WHEREAS, at the age of 16 years, she married William Lee Perry, a farmttr's son who she'd grown up with and then moved to Copeland, Florida in 1947. Before William Lee Perry passed away in 1999, they celebrated their 73'" wedding anniversary,: and, WHEREAS, the mission of the Naples Youth Empowerment Project is to intercede for youth in the City of Naples, all of Collier County and Southwest Florida; to heighten awareness of the Naples Youth Empowerment Project and its programs and provide intervention for At-Risk youth; and, WHEREAS, the Naples Youth Empowerment Project is honoring the life of Mother Annie Mae Perry by hosting the First Annual Mother Perry Prayer Brunch,. and, WHEREAS, the Naples Youth Empowerment Project is hosting the First Annual Mother Perry Brunch Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the River Park Community Center; and, WHEREAS, Mother Perry was an icon in Collier County during the 98 years of her life and the Naples Youth Empowerment Project will dedicate its first project in honor of her legacy,. and, WHEREAS, the theme of the prayer brunch is ''A Cry For Our Youth" and the mission of the Naples Youth Empowerment Project is to help today's youth become tomorrow's successful leaders. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that May 14, 2011, be designated as MOTHER ANNIE MAE PERRY DAY DONE AND ORDERED THIS 10th Day of May, 2011.
