Backup Documents 01/25/2011 Item #16H3 16"3 PROCLAMA TION WHEREAS, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke passionately of his dream of an America where all citizens would be judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin: where all Americans would enjoy the riches of freedom and the security of justice,' where the doors of opportunity would be open for all: and, WHEREAS, the celebration of Dr. King's birthday is intended as a time for all Americans to reaffirm their commitment to the basic principles that underlie our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution...equality and justice for all,. and, WHEREAS, on January 17, 2011, the people of Collier County wI'll remember Dr. King's dream and renew our commitment to bringing forth positive change throughout our nation,. and, WHEREAS, 2011 marks the 102'd anniversary of the founding of the NAACP, the organization that has played the leading role in the fight for civil rights and social justice: and, WHEREAS, the CQllier County Branch of the NAACP ",ill help us all to remember Dr. King's dream by presenting the 14th Annual Dr. Martin /.uther King Jr., Parade and Celebration, themed, "One Nation, One Dream': to be held in the City of Naples on January 17, 2011.
