Wood PA 239-595-3121 1 The community members and property owners of the 25 Ave NE neighborhood are strongly opposed to the resolution to vacate the public's and County's interest of a portion of 25th Ave NE. We ask that our public land not be given to the school for their personal use and interests. This land serves as a minimal buffer to what has become a destructive impact on our neighborhood. A'glitch' in the zoning code allows charter schools to be built on residentially zoned property without any notification to the neighborhood. A charter school that includes a multi-story building, significant car traffic, hundreds of students and staff. When the neighborhood learned that the charter school was coming into our neighborhood, we requested and received public meetings. At the public meetings, the said portion of 25th Ave NE and adjacent vacant strip of land to the North was discussed. I personally raised the potential use of this land by the charter school with representatives of this Ryan Companies and charter school representatives. They"by their word" assured us that they would not pursue utilizing this section of 25th Ave NE nor the adjacent vacant strip of land to the North. They stated it would serve as a perpetual buffer to the local community. Additionally, in their words, there were no plans to utilize 25th Ave NE nor develop the vacant strip of land as the school had their own driveway immediately encircling the school. We were asked if we wanted access through the school. It was unanimously and resoundingly agreed by the neighborhood that NO access to the school was desired and we requested that they block all access from the school into our neighborhood. When the community members asked for it in writing, Ryan Companies indicated that they need not put it in writing, that their word was enough. We are here today... their word was not enough ... nor has it been during the entire construction process. This land is public land. We ask that it remain public land and that the Commissioners deny this Resolution. We request that the Commissioners require the school to install additional landscape buffering and a fence around the property the school purchased. We also request that signage be placed at the entrance to the neighborhood off Immokalee Road and Wilson Boulevard indicating that there is no school access; all roads are indeed dead ends. Thank you for allowing a voice to ring out from the community. They register and are called upon at the beginning of the meeting before the agenda is finalized and approved by the Board. If, as a result of the speaker's comments, the Board chooses to move the item to the regular agenda, then the item is moved. My understanding is that Chief Greenberg does not wish to speak to the specific recommendations in this item but rather wishes to object to these types of facilities being built in the Estates. Are the signs for the "ground" areas only NOT including the piece of road? The stress that this causes me each and every day as I pass the site going to and from my home is growing and overwhelming. In addition, we have to navigate the "road work" and pass the site as we go out of the neighborhood heading west on Immokalee Road. It appears that the construction site has taken over the portion of 25th Ave NW as part of the whole area. Has the construction site now included the public road? Are the signs for the "ground" areas only NOT including the piece of road? The stress that this causes me each and every day as I pass the site going to and from my home is growing and overwhelming. In addition, we have to navigate the "road work" and pass the site as we go out of the neighborhood heading west on Immokalee Road. I literally want to cry ... our neighborhood will NEVER be the same. The "safe" bus stop at the corner is now a construction zone. The wildlife in the neighborhood has also been affected. I live on 23rd St NW and realize the horrible suggestion that the road will be coming on our side of the canal instead of the golf course side due to the disruption of that precious commodity. Leaving that whole can of worms aside I would like to ask if you could fight in our behalf for at least the consideration of giving us a sound barrier wall to soften the blow.
