UTILITIES DIVISION MOVING
FORWARD WITH RE-ZONE ApPLICATION
The need for the Public
Utilities' Northeast Utility
Facility was first identified
in the 2001 Water/
Wastewater Master Plan
Updates, and re-confirmed
in the 2003 Plan Updates.
The facilities are necessary
to meet the demand for
potable water and
wastewater treatment gen-
erated by growth and
development in northeast-
ern Collier County.
The Collier County Board
of County Commissioners
approved the purchase of
the 216-acre site located
adjacent to the existing
County Fairgrounds in May
2003. At that time, they
authorized Wilson Miller, a
local engineering and
planning firm, to develop a
conceptual site plan and to
coordinate a rezoning
application.
To build the utility facility,
it is necessary to re-zone
the land from "agricultural"

to "public facility" and
"community use." The re-
zoning application was
submitted in January 2005
and will be scheduled for a
public hearing in front of
the Collier County Planning
Commission and the
Board of County
Commissioners. Please

COMMUNITY ADVISORY PANEL
TO REPRESENT LOCAL COMMUNITY
Collier County is aware of the
potential impact of the devel-
opment of a multi-use Com-
munity Complex on the
neighboring community.
Therefore, the County is
reaching out for assistance in
establishing on-going and
meaningful communications
through the development of a
Community Advisory Panel
(CAP). The CAP will become a
primary vehicle for the County
to understand community
concerns and preferences
related to the development of
the Community Complex.
Members of the CAP will meet
regularly with the Project
Delivery Team to work to-
wards a showcase facility we
can all be proud of. To volun-
teer to serve on the CAP,

Information .Coordinator,
