Transit Administration (FTA) in the Transit Award Management System (TrAMS) and authorize a
Budget Amendment in the amount of $411,466 for paratransit software and warranties; and new
bus shelters.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain grant funds for the management of the Collier Area Transit (CAT) system.
CONSIDERATIONS: On June 26, 2018, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) authorized the
submittal of a grant application for the FTA 49. U.S.C 5339 FY18 grant funds in the amount of $411,466
to purchase new software for paratransit vehicles, warranties for vehicle locator software, and the design,
purchase, and construction of bus shelters. The grant requires a twenty (20%) percent match. Collier
County received approval from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to use toll revenue
credits as a soft match for the grant in the amount of $102,867.
On August 30, 2018, staff received notification of award from FTA. Following Board approval, execution
of the award is processed through TrAMS by the Public Services Department Head, who serves as the
Board’s appointed designee.

GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This Item supports the goals and objectives of the
Transportation Element of the Growth Management Plan.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This Item is approved for form and legality and requires a majority vote
for Board action. -JAB
