EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Presentation to recognize contributions made by twelve (12) Eagle Scouts to the Conservation
Collier Program.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize and show appreciation to twelve (12) Eagle Scouts for contributions made
to the Conservation Collier Program.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting. Only about six
(6%) percent of Boy Scouts earn the Eagle Scout rank each year and overall, only about two (2%) percent
of total scouts have earned the rank since its inception in 1912. To earn the rank, a Boy Scout must:
Progress through five (5) other ranks,
Earn twenty-one (21) merit badges,
Serve six (6) months in a troop leadership position,
Plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project for any religious community, school,
or community,
Take part in a scouting conference, and
Successfully complete an Eagle Scout board of review.
Between 2015 and 2018, the Conservation Collier Program has been the fortunate recipient of twelve (12)
Eagle Scout Projects. These include the following projects:
Alec Lydon - Troop 214, Alligator District, SW Florida Council - Kiosk at Caracara Prairie
Preserve
Jorge Cortes - Troop 52, Alligator District, SW Florida Council - Natural play area at Pepper
Ranch Preserve
William Mentillo - Troop 25, Alligator District, SW Florida Council - Privacy plantings at
five (5) Pepper Ranch Campsites
Joseph Manuel - Troop 25, Alligator District, SW Florida Council - benches-amphitheater at
Panther Walk Preserve
Thomas Hogle - Troop 25, Alligator District, SW Florida Council - Kiosk at Rivers Road
Preserve
Jeffrey Harth - Troop 25, Alligator District, SW Florida Council - Planting privacy shrubs
between five (5) campsites at Pepper Ranch Preserve
Charles Niveyro - Troop 951, Alligator District, SW Florida Council - bridge in campground
crossing ditch and bench at Lake Trafford Overlook

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This Item does not present any legal issues and is ready for Board

RECOMMENDATION: To recognize with appreciation the contributions of twelve (12) Eagle Scouts
and with staff presentation of Certificates of Appreciation signed by the Conservation Collier Committee
Chairman and Board of County Commissioner Chairman for each Eagle Scout.
