WHEREAS, Army Veteran Richard(Dick) Lydon, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend,
served with the 13th Armored Division, Third Army, through France, Germany and Austria
in WWII, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lydon married the love of his life in 1947 and had five wonderful children, eleven
grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Lydon moved permanently to Naples, Florida in 1985 where he formed
Lydon Transportation to supply services to the Ritz-Carlton and other area hotels for the
traveling public until 1993; and
WHEREAS, Dick Lydon gave selflessly of his time and talent to help others and served as a volunteer
on various Collier County Advisory committees for over 25 years, including 11 years on
the Vanderbilt Beach Beautification MSTU as well as City/County Beach Renourishment
Committee, Transportation Disadvantaged Committee, Public Vehicle Advisory Committee
and the Tourist Development Board; and,
WHEREAS, it is with sadness, but great honor that we remember Mr. Lydon for his true commitment
and dedication to Collier County.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida,
that December 11, 2012 be designated as
DICK LYDON DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 11th Day of December, 2012.
