WHEREAS, SCORE Naples Chapter 573 continues to demonstrate its commitment to the County's efforts to
promote entrepreneurship, economic development, and job generation in Collier County,- and,
WHEREAS, SCORFs workshops have reached over 1, 000 area attendees in the past year and its members have
volunteered over Z,000 hours of counseling to Collier's small businesses and budding entrepreneurs,
which has resulted in the start -up and success of such local companies as, Position Logic, Maid Pro,
and Family Visiting Services, • and,
WHEREAS, its contribution this year to local educational institutions by awarding four (4) scholarships to needy
business students from Florida Gulf Coast , Ave Maria, and Hodges Universities, and the Lorenzo
Walker Institute, in addition to an intern program and career counseling services, and,
WHEREAS, as a member of the Greater Naples Chamber Partnership for the Future Economy of Collier, SCORE
formed its own Leadership Council made up of fourteen (14) community leaders, to insure that its
strategic objectives are aligned with those of the County, and,
WHEREAS, Score conducted its own survey and better defined the growing Hispanic business community and its
needs, and reached agreement with Media Vista of Naples to host a 13 -week interactive TV series
to reach that demographic, and,
WHEREAS, SCORE, with the assistance of the County's Tax Collector, and the Small Business Development
Center (SBDC), have included inserts to more than 25, 000 renewal mailings so as to inform
recipients of its free counseling services, which has proven to be an effective means to drive clients
to their services; and,
WHEREAS, SCORE's work with the public and private sector continues to make an outstanding contribution to
the County's collaboration with business to encourage entrepreneurship and economic development.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that we
recognize SCORE for their continued community support.
