Backup Documents 06/11/2013 Item # 4A4A PROCLAMA TroN WHEREAS, SCORE Naples Chapter 573 (SCORE) is celebrating its 25"' anniversary in Collier County this month, providing services to entrepreneurs and small business and working with county efforts to promote economic development and job generation; and, WHEREAS, the President of the United States has designated June 17 -21, 2013 as National Small Business Week to recognize the contributions of small business to the economic growth of our economy and the people who facilitate that objective; and, WHEREAS, SCORE has contributed to this objective in the past year by devoting over 12, 000 volunteer hours, conducting over 40 educational workshops for over 500 local attendees and held over 2, 000 counseling sessions in support of budding entrepreneurs and small business owners in Collier County, • and, WHEREAS, SCORE has funded five scholarships this past year to needy business students and one internship for students at FCCU; Hodges University, Ave Maria University, Edison State College and Lorenzo Walker 1'nstitute; and was directly responsible for the placement of five local graduates into the workforce,` and, WHEREAS, a SCORE client success story, Position Logic, was the recipient of the 2012 Excellence in Industry Award for Entrepreneurship and created 50 jobs in Collier County through SCORFs participation in the Partnership for the Future Economy of Collier; crud, WHEREAS, SCORE designed, conducted and moderated a 13 week interactive TV series, "Entre Impresarios" with Media Vista via its local channel Azteca America,; aimed at Hispanic small business owners, that included the participation of Hispanic professional experts providing advice on issues pertinent to the Hispanic community; and, WHEREAS, SCORE has established a Technology & rnnovative Executive Council, comprised of ten CEOs from a developing hub of high - tech businesses, in order to promote and attract Collier County to other similar companies, influence educational groups to optimize their curriculum for local job needs and generate more jobs and revenues for the local economy,' and, WHEREAS, SCORE has closely aligned itself with the Director of the newly established Office of Economic d Business Development, Bruce, Register, to support county efforts towards economic diversity and job generation. Total client revenue, business creation, and job creation numbers were calculated via straight line extrapolation from the survey respondents to the total number of 2012 SCORE clients.This survey was made possible thanks to the generous support of Constant Contact.
