PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009 -56, established the Waste Reduction Awards
Program (the WRAP award); and,
WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and multi-family residences for enhanced and
innovative recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Bow /and Beacon for contributing to the
greater good of Collier County by advocating the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" message to their staff
and customers, thereby he /ping to prolong the usable life of the Collier County Landfill; and,
WHEREAS, Bow /and Beacon's recycling, reuse and source reduction program includes:
• Recycling all cardboard, paper, glass, aluminum, and plastic beverage containers. Placing four 94-
gallon carts and a 6 -cubic yard recycling container behind the building facilitates collection of
commingled recyclable materials.
• Increasing the number of indoor recycling containers to co/ %t cans, glass, and plastic beverage
containers, making recycling convenient and accessible to the staff and customers.
• Installing a computer controlled HVAC system and eco- friendly /fighting, including LED lighting in
boutique bowling areas, significantly reducing energy consumption and heat load.
• Reducing waste by requiring staff to bring their own cups for beverages, and serving food items on
plates and baskets with paper liners instead of Styrofoam or paper plates.
WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a framed certificate, a trophy and space on the County's website
showcasing eco - friend /y business practices and recycling programs, and,
WHEREAS, the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Department congratulates Ms. Patty Robinson, General
Manager, and Mr., Ed Truje /lo, Mechanic, and all the staff of Bow /and Beacon for their outstanding
efforts to promote waste reduction, reuse and recycling, and setting a positive example for other
bowling centers. Their initiatives will have a significant effect on sustaining the usable life of the
Collier County Landfill and protecting the environment.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that we
congratulate

for its contributions and efforts in recycling and waste reduction.
