COIJ.IFR COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING OBJECTIVES
General
1. The County must expect to reasonably share in the provision of food, clothing, shelter,
recreation, and related support systems consistent with our population, resource base, and
environmental sensitivity.
2. Essential natural systems should be maintained at a functional level whereby the County
can continue to contribute to the provision of its reasonable share of food, clothing, shelter,
recreational, and related support systems.
3. To the degree ecologically and economically reasonable, all types of species, habitats, and
systems currently found in the County should continue to be found in the County
indefinitely. This does not imply that all species, habitats, and systems must be maintained
at their current populations or a real extent, but rather that sustainable populations or areas
should be maintained somewhere in the County.
4. While it is not necessary to have all types of species, habitats, and systems in all parts of
the County, it is desirable to have some sustainable natural habitats or systems in all areas
of the County, to include the Urban Designated Area.
5. There should be some degree of human access to and recreational use of at least some of
the natural habitats and systems in the County.
