EPTAB Minutes 07/29/1991 ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY TECHNICAL ADVISORY BOARD
MINUTES OF MEETING
29 JULY 1991
Members present: Addison, Davis, Land, Maehr, Pires, Richardson,
Simpson, Wilkison
Members absent: Beardsley (Vacation) , Means (Vacation) , Saadeh
(Vacation) .
1. Meeting called to order at 4 : 14 by Glen Simpson.
2 . Simpson distributed Stormwater Master Plan and associated
literature to those who had requested them.
3 . A general discussion ensued concerning a Habitat Protection
Strategy. The Board agreed that a composite rather than piecemeal
approach was appropriate. It was agreed that an all encompassing
strategy was needed that would include but not necessarily be
limited to land acquisition, water management, and a regulatory
framework. The Board felt that different strategies may apply to
different areas of the County and proposed that the County be
divided into three or four general divisions: Urban,
Agricultural, Wilderness, Golden Gate Estates.
4 . The Chair and Vice Chair shall define specific boundaries of
the areas and present their ideas to the Board at the next
meeting. Also at this time, subcommittees will be established to
determine criteria specific to each of the defined areas.
5. Another concept introduced was how to obtain funding for a
land acquisition program. Bill Lorenz stated that Eric Draper of
the Nature Conservancy would be happy to attend a meeting of the
Board and explain to them the campaign plans and strategy for a
County referendum for land acquisition.
6. The next meetings were scheduled for 5 August 1991 at 5: 00
P.M. and 12 August 1991 at 4 : 00 P.M.
7. Meeting was adjourned by Chairman Simpson at 6: 17 P.M.
