SUBJECT: Clam Bay NRPA Management Plan Cost Estimates
Environmental Services staff members have been meeting with
various staff from other divisions to collaborate on estimated
cost factors to be used in the Clam Bay NRPA Management Plan.
On December 8, 1994, the Environmental Policy Technical Advisory
Board (EPTAB) will hold a public workshop to present the Clam Bay
NRPA Management Plan. The workshop will be held at 6: 30 p.m. in
the rear of the Boardroom on the third floor of Building F. Cost
factors will be integrated within the Management Plan and
presented to the public at that time.
The Natural Resources Department staff have coordinated with
staff members of Parks and Recreation, Pelican Bay Services
Division, and the Office of Capital Projects Management to
establish the following cost estimates:
Pelican Bay Services Division:
All existing exotics on the east side of the Pelican Bay berm to
be controlled by PBSD.
Cost estimate = $3 , 000 per year.
Physical removal of some cattails along western edge of berm
(based on 1500 sq. feet with chemical treatment = $1, 550 per
year.

Parks and Recreation:
Cost of Australian pine elimination by chemicals = $10, 000 per
year.
Cost of Australian pines removal = $30, 000 per year.
Office of Capital Project Management:
Estimated cost of obtaining interim permit from all agencies to
open Clam Pass in case of closure (in house) = $8 , 000 per year.
Estimated cost of obtaining permanent permit (outside consultant)
= $50, 000 per year.
Transportation Services:
Cost of dredge and fill operations using backhoe to open Clam
Pass =- $5, 000* per year.
