EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission (FFWCC), Florida Boating Improvement Program (FBIP) Derelict
Vessel Removal Grant Resolution and authorize the Chairman to sign the
resolution.
OBJECTIVE: To approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a resolution with Florida
Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, for a FBIP Derelict Vessel Removal Grant.
CONSIDERATIONS: Staff is applying for the FFWCC, FBIP Derelict Vessel Removal
Grant. This grant will allow staff to remove derelict vessels throughout Collier County.
In order to be in compliance with the application, a resolution is required to be Board
approved by August 13, 2010.
Currently, the grant application is unable to be completed as staff is waiting on derelict
vessel reports from FWCC to finalize the specific number of vessels to be removed and
grant application budget. The Board will be in Absentia per the required grant submittal
date of August 13, 2010 and staff is not authorize to sign this resolution, this resolution
is being presented to the Board without the grant application.
We are requesting approval of this Resolution with approval for the Grant Application to
follow at the August 10, 2010 BCC Absentia Meeting. This after - the -fact approval
process is acceptable by the FFWCC.
FISCAL IMPACT: N/A
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no impact to the Growth Management
Plan related to this action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney's
Office and is legally sufficient for Board action. - JK

RESOLUTION NO. 2010-
RESOLUTION AFFIRMING AN APPLICATION FOR A
FLORIDA BOATING IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
GRANT FROM THE FLORIDA FISH AND WILDLIFE
CONSERVATION COMMISSION
WHEREAS, the State of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission encourages counties to improve recreational boating in their areas
through the Florida Boating Improvement Program (FBIP); and
WHEREAS, Collier County desires to remove derelict vessels located
throughout the County; and
WHEREAS, Staff is requesting that the Board of County Commissioners
affirm submittal of a grant application on behalf of Collier County and to
authorize the County Manager to designate a staff project manager to perform all
necessary acts to obtain these grants, and to accomplish the goals of such a grant
if awarded to the County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA that:
The Board of County Commissioners affirms submittal of the grant
application, attached hereto, and authorizes the project manager to apply for and
administer the grant on behalf of the Board with all understandings and
assurances contained therein, and also authorizes Staff to act in accordance
therewith.
This Resolution adopted this _ day of 2010, after motion,
second and majority vote in favor of adoption.
