Agenda 07/27/2010 Item #16A15Agenda Item No. 16A15 July 27, 2010 Page 1 of 4 I EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to approve a Work Order for Shoulder Improvement project to Better Roads, Inc. for Immokalee Road (C.R. 846) west of Camp Keais Rd for approximately two miles in the amount of $212,270.84 Contract No. 09 -5197. OBJECTIVE: To approve a Work Order for the Immokalee Road shoulder safety improvements west of Camp Keais Road to Better Roads, Inc. in accordance with Contract No. 09 -5197. CONSIDERATIONS: On Tuesday June 8, 2010, the County sent a bid schedule to three (3) construction companies currently on the Annual Contract for Roadway Contractors. The County requested quotations for construction services for the Immokalee Road Shoulder hnprovements west of Camp Keais Road utilizing the Annual Contract for Roadway Contractors, Contract No. 09 -5197. These shoulder improvements are for the enhancement of safety on both sides of the roadway beginning where the paved shoulder ends west of Camp Keais Road and continuing west for approximately two miles. Three quotations were received on June 15, 2010 and are as follows BIDDER BID Better Roads, Inc. $212,270.84 APAC, Inc. $325,784.60 Bonness, Inc. $242,638.27 Better Roads, Inc. submitted the lowest quote for this project in the amount of $212,270.84. Therefore, we recommend that the Work Order be awarded to Better Roads, Inc. FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are available in the Growth Management Division's Fund 313 Road Construction Gas Tax, project number 69122 in the amount of $145,200.00. The remaining amount of $67,070.80 is available in the MSTD General Fund 11 1. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is legally sufficient for Board action. -JAK GROWTH MANAGEMENT [ MPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact resulting from this project. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approve the Immokalee Road Shoulder Improvement project with Better Roads, Inc. in the amount of $212,270.84; and authorize the Growth Management Administrator to execute a Work Order to Better Roads, Inc. for this project.
