EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign contract amendments
between the Area Agency on Aging of Southwest Florida, Inc. and Collier County to extend
the grant period by ninety days, approve budget amendments to reflect funding for the
FYIO-ll State General Revenue Seniors Programs in the amount of $836,034, and
authorize the continued payment of grant expenditures. (Fiscal impact $836,034)
OBJECTIVE: To approve and authorize the Chairman to sign contract amendments between
the Area on Aging of Southwest Florida, Inc. and Collier County to extend the grant period by
ninety days, approve budget amendments to reflect funding for the FYIO-II State Gcneral
Revenue Seniors Programs in the amount of $836,034, and authorize the continued payment of
grant expenditures.
CONSIDERATIONS: Collier County Services for Seniors provides in-home support services
to Collier County's frail elderly using grants funded through the State of Florida General
Revenue funds. These funds are received by Collier County from the Area Agency on Aging of
Southwest Florida, Inc, The contract period is July 1,2010 through June 30, 2011.
The current agreements for the Community Care of the Elderly, Alzheimer's Disease Initiative
and Home Care for the Elderly will end June 30, 2010. Historically, Collier County Services for
Seniors receives the continuation agreements from the grantor agency during the latter part of
June for the upcoming grant cycle. In order to avoid disruptions in services, the grantor has
extended the existing !,'Tant a!,'Teements by ninety days, or until a new agreement is executed.
Furthermore, the grantor has guaranteed that funding will be received in an amount not less than
the FY09-10 allocation. When final agreements are reccived, budget amendments will be
prepared and presented to the Board of County Commissioners to rcflect any changes in the final
allocation.
Approval of this item will extend the agreemcnts for the Community Care of the Elderly,
Alzheimer's Disease Initiative and Home Care for the Elderly by ninety days, approve budget
amendments to reflect funding for FY I 0-11 Statc General Revenue Seniors Programs in the
amount of $836,034, and authorize the continued payment of !,'Tant expenditures under the
aforementioned programs. The following tablc providcs a detailed breakdown of the award

FISCAL IMPACT: FYIO Budget in fund 707 Human Services Grants will increase by
$836,034. Matching funds in the amount of $97, I 00 for these programs wcre approved by the
Board of County Commissioncrs in the FY] 0 budget as a contribution from the Gencral Fund.
No additional matching funds are required.

GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated
with this item.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: The contract amendments have been reviewed and approved
by the County Attorney's Office. This item is legally sufficient for Board action. - CMG
