- A check of violators has been conducted with the use of the telephone book.
One was discovered to be pet care not a limousine service. Some companies were
already out of business and some were in violation.
- The permits are issued to the driver for as long as the driver lives.
Ms. Arnold- The J.D. was set up since companies were not sufficiently checking
drivers. A yearly renewal might be an idea to look into. The companies can be
given the responsibility to run the background for the annual renewal.
- Permits can be suspended if found in violation.
Mr. Papps- reported he called a taxi cab company requesting a taxi, but he
received an unmarked vehicle without a meter.
X. Discussion:
Airport Authority -The airport is putting together grounds transportation within
the next forty-five or so days. Lisa LaBlanc Hutchings at 643-3773 is the contact
for this project.
-A charter vehicle is not a "Taxi", it does not have the signs and does not have a
meter; it runs with flat rates. A taxi can use a flat rate, but only if it is less then
the meter run rate.
XI. Announcements:
The next meeting will be held on January 10,2004
There being no further business for the good of the County, the meeting was
adjourned by order of the Chair at 10:30am.
