EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a budget amendment reallocating existing funding for the
purpose of conducting engiueering studies and traffic analysis to support ongoing capital
projects, operations and maintenance projects within the Transportation Supported Gas
Tax Fund (313) in the amount of $150,500.00
OBJECTIVE: To obtain authorization from the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for a
budget amendment to General Planning Consultant project account for the purpose of conducting
engineering studies and traffic analysis to support ongoing capital projects, operations and
maintenance projects for the Growth Management division within the Transportation Supported
Gas Tax Fund (313) in the amount of $150,500.00.
CONSIDERATIONS: Transportation Planning, through use of its General Planning Consultant
(GPC) services, supports the needs of the planning, engineering, regulatory, construction,
operations and maintenance services of the Growth Management Division. Historically, these
funds have been allocated annually for planning projects such as: Level of Service (LOS)
analysis, impact fee support, intersection improvement studies and developer contribution
agreement support, This request will provide Transportation Planning the ability to continue to
support the following projects: Orange Blossom / Airport intersection improvements, Randall /
Immokalee interim at-grade and future grade separated conceptual intersection and access
management, Bluebill Avenue / Gulf Shore Drive intersection review, 1-75 / Immokalee
concurrency segment Level Of Service (LOS) update, 175 / Collier / Davis interchange LOS
update, and similar improvement projects that require engineering studies, updated traffic LOS
analysis, and conceptual design review for Developer coordination. GPC services are acquired
from the annual engineering contraet list of approved vendors.
FISCAL IMPACT: A budget amendment in thc amount of$ 150,500.00 is requested to transfer
funds from Project 60003 into the General Planning Consultant project account. Source of funds
are gas taxes already budgeted this fiscal year.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This itcm has bcen reviewed by the County Attorney's Office
and it does not present a legal issue-SRT.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact associated
with this Executive Summary,
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners authorize the necessary
budget amendment.
