PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, clean, safe, and sustainable water resources ore vital to Florida's
environment, economy. and its residents' and visitors' quality of
life: and,
WHEREAS. more than 90 percent of Florida's drinking water is supplied by
underlying aquifers, and our quality of life and the economy
depend upon a clean and healthy environment: and,
WHEREAS, the State of Florida, the South Florida Wato'r Management
District. and Collier County are working together to increase
awareness about the importance of water conservation: and,
WHEREAS, Collier County is committed to setting a good example for its
citizens regarding water conservation~' and,
WHEREAS. evt!ry business. industry, school, and citizen can make a
difference when it comes to conserving water: and,
WHEREAS. the Governor and Cabinet of the State of Florida are designating
April - typically a dry month when water demands are most acute
- as Florida's Wato'r Conservation Month to encourage Floridians
to conserve the state s precious water resources.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida. that April 2010 be designated as
WATER CONSERVAITON MONTH
and urge all residents and businesses to help prtJtect our precious
water resources bypracticing water saving measures.
