Recommendation to recognize grant from the 4-H Foundation Clubs, Inc. in the estimated
amount of $25,080 for the 4-H Outreach Program managed by the Collier County
University ofFloridaJIFAS Extension Department and approve the necessary budget
amendments
OBJECTIVE: Recommendation to recognize the amount of $25,080 from the 4-H Foundation
Clubs, Inc. for the outreach coordinators and the enhancement of outreach activities for the
Collier County University Extension 4-H Program for the period of January 1,2010 to December
31,2010.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Collier County University Extension Department is a federal, state,
and county partnership dedicated to developing knowledge in agriculture, human and natural
resources, and the life sciences, and enhancing and sustaining the quality of hwnan life by
making that information accessible.
During the 2001 budget process, financial support from the 4-H Foundation Clubs, Inc. was first
recognized to assist in funding of the programs within the University Extension 4- H Youth
Development Program. Since that time, funding from the 4-H Foundation Clubs, Inc. has been
used to assist in outreach coordinator salaries and has put into operation outreach educational
activities in school, after school and within many Collier communities. This year's request will
be used for the continuation of the 4H Youth Development Program. At the request of the
foundation, funding requests outlining specific activities for each quarter of 2010 will
subsequently be submitted for review and funding with disbursements occurring quarterly to the
extent funds are available.
FISCAL IMPACT: Increases Grant Fund 116 by $25,080 for the FY 20 I O. Match revenues
required by General Fund are included in the FY 2010 budget.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMP ACT: There is no growth management impact associated
with this request.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney's Office
and is legally sufficient for Board action - CMG.
RECOMMENDATION: To recognize funding from the 4-H Foundation Clubs, Inc. in the
amount of$25,080 for the 4-H Outreach Program managed by the Collier County University of
Florida/IFAS Extension Department and approve a budget amendment in the amount of $25,080.
