Agenda 02/09/2010 Item #16B7 Agenda Item No. 1667 February 9, 2010 Page 1 of 3 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to award contracts for RFP 09-5219, Annual Contract for Bridge Repairs and Maintenance to Quality Enterprises, Walker Contracting Group, and Design- Build Engineers and Contractors at an estimated annual amount of $250,000.00. OBJECTIVE: To contract with three (3) fIrms to provide Bridge Repair and Maintenance services to locations throughout Collicr County. CONSIDERATIONS: Collier County Road & Bridge Maintenance Department has an on- going need for the maintenance and emergency repair of bridges. The department requires having a maintenance and/or emergency repair cOlltract in place to schedule the emergency and/or repair in an effective and timely manner. A standard Collier County contract will be used to procure these services. Requests for Proposals (RFP) 09-5219 for these services were solicited by the Purchasing Department on May 9, 2009. Notices of the RFP invitation were sent to 957 fIrms. A total of 48 fIrmS requested the full RFP package, and four (4) fIrms submitted proposals by the deadline of June 17,2009. The Selection Committee held a meeting on July 9, 2009, to rank, review and discuss the proposals received. By consensus, the Selection Committee identified three (3) firms for the contract. When bridge repair and maintenance is required, quotes will be obtained from all three (3) contractors and the project will be awarded to the lowest, responsive contractor. FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are available in each department's approved budget. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney's Office and is legally sufficient for Board action-SRT. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact associated with this Executive Summary. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners awards RFP 09-5219 "Annual Contract for Bridge Repairs and Maintenance" to Quality Enterprises, Walker Contracting Group, and Design-Build Engineers and Contractors as recommended, and authorizes the Chairman to execute the standard County Attomey approved agreements.
