Agenda 01/12/2010 Item #16E 7 ~ ~, ~ .- --._- Agenda Item No. 16E7 January 12, 2010 Page 1 of 5 EXECUTiVE SUMMARY Recommendation to award ITB 09-5325, "On-Call Electrical Repairs and New Installation" to five firms: AC Electric of SW Florida, Inc., Bentley Electric Company of Naples, FI, Inc., E. B. Simmonds Electrical Inc., Gulf States Electric, Inc. and Professional Highway Maintenance, Inc. OBJECTIVE: To gain approval from the Board of County Commissioners to award ITB 09-5325 for electrical repairs and new installation to meet the needs of the various County departments. CONSIDERATIONS: Collier County has an on-going need for electrical services to support the departments' daily operations. An Invitation to Bid (lTB) was issued by the Purchasing Department on October 12, 2009. Email notices were sent to 308 firms. A total of 77 firms requested the full ITB solicitation package. Bids were opened on November 12, 2009; 14 firms submitted bids; of which 2 firms submitted "no bid" responses. After reviewing each of the twelve submittals, four (4) firms were ruled non-responsive. To obtain maximum efficiencies, the County reserved the right to select one or more supplier(s) and use the resultant awarded vendors in the following manner: . For work $50,000 or less: the department may select one of the vendor(s) on contract, request quotes from all vendor(s) on contract, or competitively solicit for new quotes. . For work between $50,000 and $500,000: the department may request quotes from all vendor(s) on contract, or, conduct a separate new solicitation. After a thorough review of the bids offered, and using two work order scenarios based on mathematical formulas, staff concluded that the following firms offered the lowest, qualified, and responsive bids meeting the County's published specifications (in no particular order): . AC Electric of SW Florida, Inc. (Naples, Florida) . Bentley Electric Company of Naples, FI, Inc. (Naples, Florida) . E. B. Simmonds Electrical Inc. (Naples, Florida) . Gulf States Electric, Inc. (Naples, Florida) . Professional Highway Maintenance, Inc. (Pinellas Park, Florida). FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are available in each department's approved budget.
