Recommendation to recognize Deborah Farris, Senior Property Acquisition
Specialist, Transportation Engineering & Construction Management Department as
Employee of the Year for 2009.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize Deborah Farris, Senior Property Acquisition Specialist as Employee
of Year for 2009.
CONSIDERATIONS: Deborah Farris, Senior Property Acquisition Specialist, has been nominated
as the "Employee of the Year" for 2009. Deborah was selected by committee from the list of all
the Employee of the Month winners from throughout the year. She was the County's Employee
of the Month for November 2009 and also a former winner of the Transportation Division's Annual
Rising Star Award.
Deborah, an employee of the County for five years, works in the Right-of-Way Acquisition Section
of the Transportation Engineering & Construction Management Department. She is an exemplary
employee who strives to provide the most thorough research she can and is often called upon to
work on some of the most complicated property acquisitions. Deborah is a Florida Registered
Paralegal and a licensed Title Agent. She is so committed to staying up-to-date on the latest laws
and rule changes in her profession that she attended nine professional development seminars on
her own time and at her own expense within the past year. This experience makes her a
valuable member of the team who is always willing to answer questions and share her knowledge
with others. She keeps management continuously informed as to the status of projects on which
she is working, warns as to possible situations that are likely to become problematic, and offers
solutions in the event problems arise.
Deborah was also instrumental in forging a working relationship with the local charity IHOPE.
This group works to repair homes, replace furniture and provide temporary housing to people in
need. Through their relationship with the County, IHOPE is able to receive scrap materials from
County owned properties that are scheduled for demolition. These items are then provided to
homeowners in need in the Immokalee area.
The County is truly fortunate to have such a compassionate and dedicated employee. Deborah is
truly deserving of this award.
