WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners recognize the recently-
organized philanthropic efforts of the Retrofit Southwest Florida organization, Q
non-profit, IRS classified 501(c)3 not-for-prtJflt corporation; and;
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners va/LIt! th~ importance of nat-
for-profit organizations efforts toward bUilding a disaster-resistant community
and mitigating the effects of severe weather upon single famity homes: antt
WHEREAS, the Collier County Boord of County Commissioners support the implementation of
best practices within the housing industry to help minimize loss of life and
property to the effects of disaster: and,
WHEREAS, the Collier CDtJI1fy Board of County Commissioners value the importance of human
service organizations during times of disaster and disaster recovery to provide
services not typically avaJ'lable by Federal, State~ or Local governmerrtal units:

WHEREAS, the Collier County Boord of County Commissioners support Q well-coordinated
disaster response and planning effort via its Bureau of Emergency Services and
Emergency Management Departments under appropriate guidance from agencies
if1cluding~ but not limited to; The United States Department of Homeland
Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Florida Division of emergency
Management, and ather essential agencies identified in the Federal; State, and
local emergency response plans; anct
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners supports the efforts of
RetroFit Southwest Florida to seek private sources of funding for its operations~
demonstration projects, and future ttfforts via grant resources of its chODsing.
The Board further requuts that Retrofit SDUthwest Floriaas efforts include
coordination and information sharing of their activities and projects with the
County's mitigation strategy planning efforts and other appropriate agencil!S and
deportments.
NOW THEREFOR€. be it proclaimed by the Board of County CommiSSioners of Collier
County. Florida, that we welcome the private not-far-profit efforts of the
Rf!trofit Southwest Florida Corporation to engage in home rf!silience
building programs and activities.
