Recommendation to approve a budget amendment in the amount of $49,642.98 and
recognize revenue and its appropriate expenditures generated from case management and
case aid from the Medicaid Waiver program.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize revenue and its appropriate expenditures generated from the Medicaid
Waiver program and record the related budget amendment.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Medicaid Waiver program includes an,agreement between Collier County
and the Area Agency for Aging of Southwest Florida (AAA) dba Senior Choices of Southwest Florida to
accept referrals for case management and case aid. This program enables elderly participants to receive
case management services from qualified providers with the oversight of the quality of care by the
Medicaid Waiver Specialist employed by AAA. These services are authorized in order for participants to
remain independent and avoid premature nursing home placement.
Collier County bills for case management services and collects funds directly from Medicaid. This
program has collected $49,642.98 in revenue net of expenditures for the period of FY08 through FYI 1.
These funds will be used to pay for additional case management and related expenses for this program.
FISCAL IMPACT: FYI budget will increase by $49,642.98 in Fund 123 Services for Seniors.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is legally sufficient and requires a majority vote for Board
action. ]BW
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact from this
recommendation.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve a budget amendment in the amount of $49,642.98 to recognize
revenues that have been received and its appropriate expenditures.
