PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Dwight E. Brock began serving the people of Collier County in 1982 as a white-
collar crime prosecutor for the 20th Judicial Circuit; and,
WHEREAS, in 1992, Dwight was elected by the people to serve as Collier County Clerk of
the Circuit Court & Comptroller from 1993 to 2018, passing away during his
seventh term of office; and,
WHEREAS, Dwight's motto as Clerk was "We're here to serve" and he maintained an open
door to the citizens of Collier County for his 26 years in Office; and,
WHEREAS, Dwight was a fierce public servant and vigilant fiscal watchdog who valiantly
protected the taxpayer's dollars; and,
WHEREAS, Dwight staunchly believed that providing Constitutional checks and balances on
government for the taxpayers, created a fair, honest and open government;
and,
WHEREAS, Dwight proudly exercised his role as the official custodian of county records
as well as his role in safeguarding the integrity of all court records and
evidence; and,
WHEREAS, Dwight gave his time, talent and wisdom to Collier County by teaching hunter
safety courses, being actively involved in the scouts and always taking the time
to speak to a variety of groups on legally and fiscally relevant topics; and,
WHEREAS, anyone who knew Dwight knows he took great pride in his wife, Cheryl, his son,
Bradley, and all the employees of the Clerk's Office whom he trusted to serve
the citizens of Collier County.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that August 1st, 2018 be designated as
DWIGHT E. BROCK REMEMBRANCE DAY IN COLLIER COUNTY
