EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Jecika Cook, Operations Analyst, Growth Management
Department, as the June 2018 Employee of the Month.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of an employee who has made significant
contributions to the organization or to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Jecika has been with Growth Management since 2005, and works in the Asset,
GIS & Record Management section of the division.
The enterprise asset management implementation is a significant and important project that’s been
ongoing for about a year and has now successfully completed the implementation phase. The project is
complex, and involves multiple divisions across two departments. It involved the migration of 10 years’
worth of data, and over a half million records from the old management system to a new one.
Jecika Cook is a key team member whose knowledge, skills, and the ability to work effectively with the
implementing divisions made her invaluable and essential to the success of the project. The project was
completed ahead of schedule and under budget without cutting any corners. This was a tremendous feat
given the fact that Hurricane Irma forced the team to put the project on hold for two months. During this
time Jecika worked tirelessly to get the asset damage assessment data in the system for eventual FEMA
and insurance reimbursement. She is one of the major stakeholders in providing planning, design,
implementation, security and technical support for the Cartegraph System. T his is not an easy task,
especially when interacting with so many users, making sure they understand the “why”, “what” and
“when” for each item. Jecika manages to do all this with a smile, maintaining her composure under
pressure. She always goes above and beyond what is required of her in the performance of her duties and
her understanding of GIS, databases, and her customers’ operational needs makes her very valuable. She
gives outstanding customer service and her exemplary attitude is apparent to everyone who works with
her. She helped make the deployment of the new Cartegraph Operations Management System practically
painless!
Jecika is a valuable part of the GMD family and an asset to the GMD Administrative team that took on
this project and came out the other side with a new Asset Management System that will be a tremendous
benefit to all that use it. These are just a few reasons that Jecika is so deserving of this award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected “Employee of the Month” receives a $150 cash award. Funds for this
are available in the employee's budget cost center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve the recognition of Jecika Cook as the June 2018 Employee of the
Month.
