EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign contract amendments between
the Area Agency on Aging of Southwest Florida, Inc. and Collier County to extend the grant period
by ninety days, approve budget amendments to reflect funding for the FYl1-12 State General
Revenue Seniors Programs in the amount of $838,546, and authorize the continued payment of
grant expenditures. (Fiscal impact $838,546)
OBJECTIVE: To approve and authorize the Chairman to sign contract amendments between the Area
Agency on Aging of Southwest Florida, Inc. and Collier County to extend the grant period by ninety
days, approve budget amendments to reflect funding for the FYll-l2 State General Revenue Seniors
Programs in the amount of $83 8,546 and authorize the continued payment of grant expenditures.
CONSIDERATIONS: Housing, Human and Veteran Services, Services for Seniors progran1 provides in-
home support services to Collier County's frail elderly using grants funded through the State of Florida
General Revenue funds. These funds are received by Collier County from the Area Agency on Aging of
Southwest Florida, Inc. The contract period is July 1,2011 through June 30, 2012.
The current agreements for the Community Care of the Elderly, Alzheimer's Disease Initiative and Home
Care for the Elderly will end June 30, 2011. Historically, Collier County Services for Seniors receives the
continuation agreements from the grantor agency during the latter part of June for the upcoming grant
cycle. In order to avoid disruptions in services, the grantor has extended the existing grant agreements by
ninety days, or until a new agreement is executed. Furthermore, the grantor has guaranteed that funding
will be received in an amount not less than the FYl 0-11 allocation. When final agreements are received,
budget amendments will be prepared and presented to the Board of County Commissioners to reflect any
changes in the final allocation.
Approval of this item will extend the agreements for the Community Care of the Elderly, Alzheimer's
Disease Initiative and Home Care for the Elderly by ninety days, approve budget amendments to reflect
funding for FYll-l2 State General Revenue Seniors Programs in the amount of $838,546, and authorize
the continued payment of grant expenditures under the aforementioned programs. The following table
provides a detailed breakdown of the award amounts.

FISCAL IMPACT: FYll Budget in fund 707 Human Services Grants will increase by $838,546.
Matching funds in the amount of $72,642 for the programs desclibed above are being requested
in the FY12 budget. No additional matching funds are required.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney's
