PROCLAMA TION
clean, safe, and sustainable water resources and supplies are vital to Collier Countys
economy, environment, and its people__ ana.
Floridas water supplies are finite, but our population and our need for water resources
continues to increase__ and,
water reuse provides a means for conserving and augmenting Floridas precious water
resources,' ana.
Floridas permitted reuse capacity exceeds 1.4 bl'llion gallons per day (over 58 percent of
Floridas total permitted capacity for all domestic wastewater treatment facilities)__ ana.
the State of Florida has declared the week of May 15 - 21, 2011 to be Water Reuse Week
in Florida__ ana.
Collier County Public Utl'lities has joined with the State of Florida, the Florida Department
of Environmental Protection, and the South Florida Water Management District in
encouraging and promoting water reuse and conservation__ ana.
Collier Countys Public Utilities' water reuse program is a leader in the state by treating and
returning over 4.56 billion gallons of reclaimed water last fiscal year to the community for
beneficial reuse as irrigation quality water, thereby saving 4.56 billion gallons of potable
water from being used for irrigation__ ana.
Collier County Public Utilities and the South Florida Water Management District is calling
upon each citizen and business to help protect our precious resource by practicing water
CO/1$ervation and to use reclaimed water in an efficient and effective means.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that
May 15 through May 21, 2011 be designated as
WATER REUSE WEEK
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 10th Day of May, 2011.
