'eReAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009-56, established the Waste Reduction Awards Program (the WRAP
award): and,
WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and multi-famIly residences for enhanced and innovative recycling
programs: and.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Naples Land Yacht Harbor for contributing to the greater good of
Collier County by advocating the ''Reduce, Reuse, RecycleH message to its residents, thereby helping to prolong the usable life
of the Collier County Landfill: and,
WHEREAS, aspects of the Naples Land Yacht Harbor recycling program and green initiatives include:
. Providing residential single stream recycling. The participation rate increased by 58% of the 251 occupied homes in the park.
. Recycling newspaper, cardboard, plastics, glass, aluminum and tin cans generated approximately 435 pounds per week of
recyclable materials. In six months, the residents of the park collected a total of 10,400 pounds or 5.2 tons of recyclable
materials.
. Adding recycling carts and bins in the clubhouse,: both in the front of the building for members and in the back of the
building for employees.
. Using extra ''yellow top" recycling carts during special events, parties, and Sunday morning brunch generated approximately
630 pounds of recyclable materials per event, further reducing the waste going into the landfill.
. Initiating a Green Policy for all residents and requiring a commitment to follow guidelines pertaining to recycling and waste
reduction.
WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a framed certificate, a trophy, and space on the colliergov. net/recycles website
showcasing eco-friendly reSidential practices and recycling programs: and.
WHEREAS, the Solid Waste Management Department congratulates Mary Butler, President of the Board of Directors, Michael Butler,
Neil and Jenny Gunner, and all the residents of Naples Land Yacht Harbor for their outstanding efforts to promote waste
reduction, reuse, recycling, and promoting environmental awareness. Naples Land Yacht Harbor sets a positive example for
other residential communities, Its initiatives will have a significant effect on sustaining the usable life of the Collier County
Landfill and protecting the environment.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that we congratulate
NAPL.ES L.AND YACHT HARBOR
for its continued contributions and efforts in recycling and its Going Green mission.
