OBJECTIVE: To hire a (Inn to conduct annual on-site.auct1ons ...an<1.on-line auctions for the
disposal of County surplus . property.
CONSIDERATIONS:RFP 10-5548 was posted on December 10,2010. Thirteen notices of the
REP were sent out and. one proposal was received by thedue~teofJanuary 7, 2011. On
January 26, 2011 the .selectioncommittee chose Atkinson Realty &. A~ctiol1, Inc., by consensus,
to perform on-site and.on-line auctions for' ~initial one (1) yea,r teon 'Withthl'ee (3) possihle one
year renewals.
Atkinson Realty & Auction Inc. had this. contract for the previous foUl' years at 20% co11lmissiori
and has perfonned sa.tlsfactorily. Atkinson's original offer. Waf; tochatg~ the County 18%
co111111ission. Research wasconductedandback.up provedtimt .16% was a proper and most
widely accepted C9mmission. Atkinson agreed to the.16%.commissionwhich wilt result in
additional income coming back to the County. All sales, are conducted in accor~.. with
Chapter 274, FlaStat.
.r\ FISC~IMPACT:. Historically, annual. inc~)lne for CollierCo~tymJCtionsales has averaged
approxim,ately $304,000.< The auctioneerco111111issionispaidfromthe~ction sale revenue, and
in general, net sales revenues are returned to the GeneraLFundorEnt:erpriscFund that paid for
the acquisition of the asset.
LEG~CONS~El\ATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney's Office,
requires majority vote, f.ltld is legally sufficient for Board action. ~ CMG .
