2/22/2011 Item 5.B.
Tony Pires continues to be one of the star members to an already outstanding Collier
County Advisory Board. As a member of Conservation Collier Land Acquisition
Advisory Committee (CCLAAC), he is ah<,'ays prepared and studies each issue in minute
detail. lam never surprised when he brings up on issue the rest of the committee
overlooked. His commitment to detail is his best attribute.
His knowledge of development and federal and state regulations consistently assist our
committee in making fisC<.1.Ily sound recommendations felT purchases of environmentally
sensitive preserves. His knowledge of real estate law has also assisted in making
decisions on properties with legal and other complications attached, as well as amending
our purchasing policies to insure the County is protected v..hile at the same time
protecting the "willing seller" concept utilized by Conservation Collier as part of its
founding ordinance so it is not compromised. Mr. Pires and I do not alvl,'l1Ys see eye to
eye on every issue, but he is respectful of everyone's opinion making civility while
governing a high priorit}', Furthermore his counsel is always welcome. Tony s(."Cs the
big picture. Conversely, he also has the ability to microscopically analyze each issue
before us and not get consumed wit.h the details when making his decision. Of all the
great members on this Committee, I think Tony is the one to whom I look first to find
problematic.: issues f()f the Consr.:rvation Collier Committee and help lead us away from
trouble.
Tony has chaired the Outrea.ch Subcommittee for a numher of years. This subcommittee
is responsible for making recommendations to the CCLAAC on potential areas t{)
purchase propenies identifying kvget markets. He consistently has balanced the
available capital with property purchases \""ith his recommendations.
Tony is also a member of the Ordinance Policy & Procedure Subcommittee. Again is
vast knowledge of developlnent regulations and real estate law has heen invaluable to the
subcomminee,
It is my great pleasure to nominate Anthony Pires as an Advisory Committee Outstanding
Member for he clearly meets every description needed to qualify for this recognition.
