Rookery Bay:An Aquatic Paradise (wt) is a feature-length documentary that captures the essence of Rookery Bay, one of Southwest Florida's most pristine estuaries. It tells the story of how humans have relied on the bay for over 3,000 years—and how people in modern times saw the value of Rookery Bay and worked together to preserve the bay for future generations. As a result of conservation efforts, Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research was formed and is the present-day steward of Rookery Bay and the adjacent Ten Thousand Islands. Since its founding 40 years ago, Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (RBNERR) is considered a flagship research reserve and has served as a model for other research reserves across the nation. RBNERR manages the resources in their care through several avenues, including prescribed fire and exotic management. By careful stewardship, Rookery Bay continues to be an invaluable asset to the local economy from eco-tourism to commercial fishing. RBNERR is also a key connecting point in the community: they provide cutting- edge research to scientists around the world, have developed programs to educate local decision-makers using science-based recommendations, and work with the local school system to educate local students about marine biology and the local ecosystem. Because of the work done by RBNERR and others, Rookery Bay continues to be an aquatic paradise. Scone of Work for Educational Media Documents What is the Work?
