Appointment of member(s) to Library Advisory Board
OBJECTIVE: To appoint 2 members to fill terms that expired on December 31,2010, to the
Library Advisory Board.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Library Advisory Board has 2 vacanCIes representing
Commission Districts 1 and 2, the terms expired on December 31,2010, This 5-member board
acts on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners to establish policies of the Library
Department including, but not limited to, policies relating to materials acquisition and
circulation, collection development, and eligibility of individuals for library services. They also
act in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners for all Library Department
issues regarding the establishment of fees, the budget, capital planning, staffing levels, and other
library related programs. A list of the current membership is inciuded in the backup.
Loretta Murray (district 1) and Constance L. Bettinger-Hennink (district 3) have terms that
expired on December 31, 2010. A press release was issued and resumes were received from the

The Library Advisory Board met Wednesday, December 8, 2010, and recommended the following applicants
to membership on the Library Advisory Board. The recoriunendations were unanimous.
Loretta Murray
Connie L. Bettinger-Hennink
Both are current members of the Library Advisory Board, with terms expiring December 31,2010.
Mrs. Murray has missed no meetings in the last two years.
Mrs. Bettinger-Hennink has missed four meetings in the last two years. The LAB received appropriate
notification in advance of these absences.
There were no additional applicants for the positions.
