COLLIER COUNTY ORDINANCE NO. 2003-53, AS AMENDED,
REQUIRES THAT ALL LOBBYISTS SHALL, BEFORE ENGAGING
IN ANY LOBBYING ACTIVITIES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT
LIMITED TO, ADDRESSING THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS), REGISTER WITH THE CLERK TO THE
BOARD AT THE BOARD MINUTES AND RECORDS
DEPARTMENT.
REQUESTS TO ADDRESS THE BOARD ON SUBJECTS WHICH
ARE NOT ON THIS AGENDA MUST BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING
WITH EXPLANATION TO THE COUNTY MANAGER AT LEAST
13 DAYS PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THE MEETING AND WILL BE

Summers, Collier County Emergency Management Director
A. Preparation includes:

· 500 special needs persons have been contacted
· EMS contacted for convalescence transportation
· Staging areas readied for action within the county to
be ready to assist
· State request for high clearance vehicles
· Transportation Department securing roads
· Real-time information through Collier-TV

· Debris removal Contractor
· GIS maps for emergency responders
· Pet Evacuation through Domestic Animal Services
· Public Information Statements out to travel 1-75 East
· Activated Alert System

· Communication w/all 3 hospitals and w/airport
· P A Messages/Alarms to low-lying areas regarding
evacuation, especially good in Goodland area
· Shelters:
Barron Collier High School - 26 registered, Gulf
Coast High School- 18, Oakridge Middle School- 6,
Corkscrew Middle School- none, Immokalee High
School- none, and Calusa Park - no one
B. Weather/Storm update
1) Severity of the winds, storm surge, and the time-
frame
2) Possible use of automated notification - Sheriff's
Office has this ability and it is FEMA reimbursed -
Emergency Management Director to decide if it
is/isn't in the best interest for usage in Collier County
- Consensus
4. Comments
A. Commissioner Fiala - received phone call from Governor
Bush with his concerns and has been given a phone number
if County needs any assistance/support
B. Jim Mudd, County Manager - be cautious since the path of
the hurricane is not a certainty

C. David Weigel, County Attorney -
Declaration of Extraordinary Circumstances that
Commissioner Coyle be voting member of this Emergency
Meeting - Approved 4/0;
Commissioner Henning is the Acting-Chairman in the
absence in person of the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman;
tabling meeting is not necessary since the emergency nature
is set in the protocol of the Ordinance
D. Commissioner Coyle - wanted to make sure that
Emergency Management has everything that they need
E. Commissioner Fiala - question concerning if County
employees required to be at work: Non-essential personnel
are not working on Friday, August 13th; All essential
personnel w/Emergency Services will continue working
