EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve obtaining appraisals (not to exceed $10,000) for Fifth Third Bank
properties located north of the Naples Zoo leased property. Cost of appraisals will be reimbursed
by the Naples Zoo.
OBJECTIVE: - -To 'obtain two (2) Independent State certified appraisals for a feasibility analysis for the
potential expansion of the Naples Zoo.
CONSIDERATION: Fifth Third Bank acquired eight parcels from Caribbean Venture of Naples, LLC,
a Florida limited liability company via a Certificate of Title dated July 23, 2012 and recorded at O.R.
Book 4819, Page 1683 of the Public Records of Collier County, Florida. A location map is attached for
reference.
In 2004, Collier County voters approved a referendum authorizing the County to buy the Caribbean
Gardens property previously owned and operated by the Naples Zoo. The Zoo has been leasing the
property from the County thereafter and is interested in ascertaining the value of the properties to the
north side of the currently leased property for the possible future expansion of their facility.
The award shall be made to the two lowest, qualified and responsive quotes in accordance with the
standards established in the Policy.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are available in Parks & Recreation Capital Reserves Fund 306. The Naples
Zoo is prepared to reimburse the County for the actual costs of the appraisals up to $10,000.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: None at this time.
LEGAL CONSIDERATION: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is legally
sufficient, and requires majority support for approval. JAK
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves obtaining the appraisals.
