EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to authorize the on -line auction with Public Surplus of a 1997 brush truck and return the sales revenue to the Isles of Capri Fire District MSTU fund. OBJECTIVE: To sell a surplus brush truck no longer used by the Isles of Capri Fire and Rescue District and to obtain revenue for the Isles of Capri Fire District MSTU. CONSIDERATIONS: The Purchasing Department will schedule an online auction to dispose of surplus property. Public Surplus will hold the online auction. Public Surplus was selected as they target buyers who are interested in the purchase of government property; and, the commission fee of seven (7 %) is paid for by the buyer to Public Surplus upon completion of the sale. This sale will be conducted in compliance with Section 274.06, Florida Statutes, with a minimum opening bid of $25,000. The 1997 brush truck has been recommended for surplus by fleet. The vehicle was purchased in February of 2007 in the amount of $52,800 and per Finance Capital Assets it has depreciated out as of January 2012 to a net book value of zero dollars. Repair costs have equaled more than half the purchase price. Parts are expensive and only one source is available. The vehicle is no longer in active service. The vehicle asset number is CC2- 122. The vehicle was not placed in the annual auction due to a minimum bid of $25,000; historically, minimum bids have not been permitted at the annual auction. On February 16, 2012 the Isles of Capri Fire Control District Advisory Committee unanimously approved the sale of the brush truck. FISCAL IMPACT: The sales revenue is requested to be returned to the Isles of Capri Fire District MSTU Fund (144). MSTU funds were used to purchase the asset and asset revenue must be returned to the MSTU fund. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this Executive Summary. LEGAL CONSIDERATION: This item is legally sufficient for Board action, and requires a majority vote for approval. -JW RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County'Commissioners approves the on- line auction of the surplus brush truck and return the sales revenue to the Isles of Capri Fire District MSTU fund.
