PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, Annie Mae McKinney was born in 1910 in Monticello, a town near
the Florida - Georgia border; and,
WHEREAS, at the age of 16, she married William Lee Perry, moved to
Copeland, Florida in 1947 and remained married to him for 73
years until his death in 1999; and,
WHEREAS, Mother Perry was an icon in Collier County during her 98 years
and the Mother Perry Youth Empowerment Project under the
Mother Perry Scholarship Funds, Inc. Foundation dedicates its
second annual brunch, 'Serving to Save Our Youth, " to honor her
legacy on June 16, 2012; and,
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Mother Perry Youth Empowerment Project
Brunch is to bring awareness to the community and to at -risk
youth of its existence in Collier County.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida, that June 16, 2012 be designated as
MOTHER ANNIE MAE PERRY DAY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 12th Day of June 2012.
