PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, National Economic Development Week was created by the International
Economic Development Council in 2016; and,
WHEREAS, the week increases awareness of local economic development programs; and,
WHEREAS, economic developers promote economic well-being and quality of life for their
communities by creating, retaining and expanding jobs that facilitate growth,
enhance wealth and provide a stable tax base; and,
WHEREAS, economic developers stimulate and incubate entrepreneurism to help establish
the next generation of new businesses, which is the hallmark of the American
economy; and,
WHEREAS, economic developers are engaged in a wide variety of settings including urban
and rural, local, state, provincial, and federal governments, public-private
partnerships, chambers of commerce, universities and many other institutions;
and,
WHEREAS, the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce, Office of Business and Economic
Development, Southwest Florida Economic Development Alliance, Naples
Accelerator, FGCU's Small Business Development Center and SCORE work
together to provide a wide spectrum of economic development services for
Collier County.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that May 7-12, 2018, be designated as
NATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WEEK IN COLLIER COUNTY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 8th Day of May 2018.
