EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Presentation to recognize the local effort to promote National Farm-City Council's mission
to strengthen understanding of the farm-city connections that provide our food,fiber and
shelter, to recognize Collier County community's Farm City Barbeque organization and its
Annual Farm City Barbeque,to announce award of grants to the youth organizations
benefiting from the Farm City Barbeque, to acknowledge the good works of the Farm City
Barbeque, and for the Collier County Board of County Commissioners to promote and
encourage the continued community support of the Annual Farm City Barbeque.

OBJECTIVE: Presentation to recognize, acknowldege and promote the community efforts of
the Farm City Barbeque and for the Farm City Barbeque organization to announce (and present)
grants benefitting local youth programs - Collier County 4H Association, Leadership Collier
Foundation, Inc., Collier County Junior Deputy League, and Collier County Key Clubs.
CONSIDERATIONS: Since 1955,the National Farm-City Council's mission has supported
educational programming to strengthen understanding of the farm-city connections that provide
our food, fiber and shelter. The Collier County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed
November 16 through 22, 2012 as Farm City Week, and 2012 marked the 57th year of the
National Farm City Partnership. The Farm City Barbeque's history and tradition in Coller County
spans decades, and this year's Farm City barbeque was held on November 21 at the Barron
Collier Company Farm off Oil Well Road with almost 1,350 guests in attendance.
This year's event raised funds for four area youth organizations. The presentation is made on
behalf of the Farm City Barbeque by its Chairman Blake Gable to announce the grant awards
provided by the Farm City Barbeque organization to Collier County 4H Association, Leadership
Collier Foundation, Inc., Collier County Junior Deputy League, and Collier County Key Clubs.

RECOMMENDATION: For the Board of County Commissioners, on behalf of the Citizens of
Collier County, to acknowledge the good works of the organization and the event, and to
promote and encourage continued community support of the Annual Farm City Barbeque.
