Subject: Pi Beta Phi Literacy Initiative for Avalon School
Donna,
My Naples Pi Beta Phi sorority alumnae club is moving forward on collecting books for Avalon's
library, and also for the 3rd-5th grade students. It would be VERY HELPFUL to have a list from the
Media Center Specialist/Librarian as to the books on her"Want list" and also books that she feels are
the most appropriate and liked by that age group. Our alumnae club would like to get books that
would really help the students, and books that they would like. (How many books do you feel that
Avalon would need from us--for both updating the Media Center and for the individual students in the
3rd-5th grades? How many students are in those grades? If we get enough books, we could also try
to help Shadowlawn.)
Also, Donna, if you would speak with the Avalon Media Center Specialist and ask her if I could have
her e-mail address, I'd be happy to communicate with her directly.
Also, our next Naples Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi luncheon event is on Friday, Jan. 10th, at 11:30 at
Naples Sailing & Yacht Club. We'd love to have you join us, and say a few words about Avalon and
about the needs that they have for books, both for the Media Center and for the students,
themselves. Would that be possible for you to be there to speak a few words?
Once we gather the books (we're hoping for 500, total), what would you think would be an appropriate
way to interact with the school to distribute the books?-
Also, Donna, I intended to give you a dues mailing envelope for NPC on Thursday; did I do that?
