Clr-l ro OnorR Steve Hruby called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. and read the procedures to be observed during the meeting. He led in the Pledge of Allegiance. 2. The motion was made to approve the agenda by John Cowan and was seconded by Carlos Portu. The group voted 8{ to approve the agenda. b. John Cowan made a motion to approve the minutes from the meeting of June 5, and Mary Waller seconded. The group unanimously approved with a vote of 8{. 4. INFORMATIOT{AL ]TEMS a. Cormac told the group that the Stakeholders Committee worked on a draft vision statement which is: To provide the residents of Collier County a diverse range of accessible housing options. lt is still in draft form and he anticipates working on it at the next meetinS. b. Subcommittees continue to meet. The major five groups are: a. Density & Certainty -The group has designated spots for extended density near activity centers in order to bring residential units into the activity centers. They are suggesting rezoning to bring in residential units. Also, they have suggested making the administrative process less arduous when going from commercial to residential. They also suggested using vacant commercial spots, such as the K-Mart to fast track residential. b. Stable funding Source - The reinstatement of the Housing Trust Fund and finding ways to fund it will be worked on by the Florida Housing Coalition. They will also recommend a defendable linkage fee. c. Public lands/Land Trust - The FHC is considering ways to establish a land trust. They will also try to develop a county policy to incorporate affordable housing into other projects such as building units around a public park or building apartments over a library. The BCC directed staffto look at the top 9 parcels and vet them through an identification process as to whether they would be suitable for housing. d. Transportation - Suggestions were to move bus stops close to major employers, increase the number or park-n-rides and to consider uber style carpools. e. Communications - This group is waiting to support whatever suggestions that are made. They are currently working on informational videos for public use and will be ready to be released in early August. Questions such as, "What is affordable Housing?" will be answered. They also recommended a one-stop style website for all things relating to affordable housing. Cormac told the group that the draft plan will be presented to the DSAC on August 2nd and to the AHAC at their next meeting on August 7th. Kim Grant told the group to expect a longer meeting than normal because there will be many people from the community and there will be a question and answer session. 5. PUBtIcCoMMEMT There were no requests for public comment. 5. DscussroN lrEMs AND pRESENTATIoNS a. Jason Rummer reviewed the first quarter housing reports with the group. He went over the housing index and reviewed the latest rental situation in Collier County. He also answered a question that Steve Hruby asked at the last meeting regarding how many people commuted to Collier from other counties in the area - L4.7% of all people who work in Collier County commute into the county every day. 2 b. Kim Grant told the group that there are several members who terms on the AHAC expire and asked them to reapply on the website right away so that we can recommend those reappointments to the BCC at the next meeting. ADJOURN At the next meeting, a representative from each subcommittee will attend the AHAC meeting. we will review the report, get input from the AHAC in preparation to take the report to the BCC. On9127 a workshop will be held to go into details ofthe plan. There being no further business for the good of the County, the meeting was adjourned at 9:57 a.m. after being motioned by Mary Waller, seconded by Litha Berger and having a final vote of 8-0.
